“Does your child love learning, but fight you every time it's time to write something down? They can explain an entire history lesson out loud, but asking them to write three sentences turns into a 30-minute struggle.”Jenna Coleman, founder of Grooved Learning
Closing that gap is what these four pieces were built to do. Used in order, they carry your child from guided practice inside the grooves through to writing independently in a smaller, more grown-up hand. 10 to 15 minutes a day is enough. Jenna built these four pieces herself. Here she is on why a child will sit down with one of these books when writing practice has been a fight every other time.
We teach children how to form letters, we introduce the alphabet, we have them trace some words, and then we move on. But think about how different that is from the way we teach almost every other foundational skill. When we teach reading, we don't just stop once a child recognizes the first letters. We help them develop fluency, we give them increasingly challenging materials, and we provide opportunities to apply what they've learned. Handwriting deserves that same progression.
In Jenna's words: “A child that can form individual cursive letters isn't necessarily ready to write a complete paragraph comfortably.” The grooved books handle this first stage, where your child is still learning the movement.
“They need opportunities to develop consistency, spacing, control, and fluency.” That takes more pages than any one book holds, which is why a second grooved book carries the same guided practice into new content.
“Many children don't progress onto a solid foundation of print or cursive because they haven't practiced them in the proper letter sizing. That's exactly where our advanced print and cursive come in.”
“When children write, their brains are doing so much more than simply remembering letters. They're coordinating visual information, fine motor movements, language memory, and attention. And when handwriting hasn't become automatic, all that effort can compete with the attention they need to organize and express their ideas.”
Research estimates that between 10 and 30% of school-age children experience handwriting difficulties. That's potentially as many as 3 out of every 10 children.
The same 10 minutes a day does the work whether your child learns at home or spends the day in a classroom.
Open and go, with nothing for you to prepare first. The themes line up with what you're already teaching, so handwriting practice doubles as your astronomy, geography, or nature work.
Jenna: “Today's classrooms look very different. Children are using tablets, computers, and digital assignments at younger ages.” Her answer for parents: “Even if your child's school has limited time for handwriting instruction, you can provide additional opportunities for that practice in just 10 minutes a day. And it doesn't have to feel more like homework.”
Jenna: “Imagine sitting down with your grandchild and exploring the planets while they're practicing their advanced printing skills... Sometimes the most meaningful gifts we give our children aren't toys or technology, they're opportunities to learn skills that will serve them for the rest of their life.”
“Imagine a child who loves learning, but consistently struggles with written assignments. They know the answers, they understand the materials, but the process of putting those ideas onto paper is difficult. And after enough frustrating experiences, they begin avoiding writing altogether.”
“As their handwriting becomes more familiar, more automatic, they become more able to devote attention to what they're actually trying to communicate and learn. And when children begin noticing improvement, that progress can help build confidence.”
“Our goal isn't simply to teach children how to form beautiful letters, it's to help them become confident writers who can put what they know onto paper.”
Schools are bringing cursive back, and parents are thrilled. Then the school year ends, and Jenna hears the same thing again and again: their child can sign their name, but can't read a note written in cursive.
“They can sign their name, but they still can't read cursive when I write it.”
What parents tell Jenna at the end of the school yearJenna remembers it differently: “When we were learning cursive 30 years ago, cursive was a full year that it was taught.” Her goal is the same now: “to actually learn how to read and write in cursive because it has so many benefits for their brain and for their confidence.”

Jenna built these four pieces to be used in order. “Use guided practice when they're learning new movements like our grooved books provide. And gradually provide the opportunities for more independent writing as their confidence develops, such as our advanced cursive and print programs. That's the approach behind our elementary handwriting mastery collection.”
Grooved pages take your child through letters and transitions, then words and sentences, using historical poetry instead of filler sentences. The poetry unit study turns handwriting time into reading time.
Cursive, but with crocodiles. The same grooved method with new animals to learn about on every page, so your child keeps practicing the movement well past the point where one book runs out.
3 printable workbooks on the Solar System, Flowers, and The 50 States, written in a smaller cursive size for children who already know the basics and are ready for more consistent handwriting.
The same 3 themes in smaller advanced print, moving from letters to words to full sentences, with coloring and fine-motor activities on the way through.
“We don't want to create another workbook filled with meaningless sentences. So we incorporated educational content. Our children aren't simply completing a handwriting assignment, they're practicing a foundational skill, while also being exposed to meaningful educational concepts.”
“Imagine you're studying astronomy in your homeschool. Instead of assigning an unrelated handwriting worksheet, your child can practice their printing or cursive while reinforcing what they're learning about the planets. Or maybe you're studying about geography and your child can practice handwriting while learning about the 50 states.”
Your child traces inside a grooved channel. The child gets immediate tactile feedback rather than needing to be corrected. Then the magic ink fades in about 20 minutes and the page resets itself.
Returns: the grooved books can be returned within 30 days for a refund. Printables are digital downloads, so they can't be returned or refunded.

Straight from the product page so there's no surprise at checkout: “These are printable digital downloads that you can print and use at home. This book is a game changer. I taught cursive handwriting in second grade and love teaching cursive but this book is awesome!
Beatrice N.She is fascinated by the fact that the ink disappears after so long and she can redo that page. Definitely recommend for parent with little going into kindergarten.
Michelle M.I was really impressed with the books and amazing that you put in extra ink for each pen that's in there. I showed it to my daughter she absolutely loved it. Very well done.
JacqueOpen the books, use the pens, let the ink fade and come back. If your child isn't writing more confidently than they were a month ago, send the grooved books back within 30 days for a refund.
Digital printables are instant downloads, so they can't be returned or refunded.
